Innovation through Leading Edge Partnership
Our links with partners in developing new and exciting learning opportunities for the federation students are typified by the work on early transition from KS2 to KS3 under the "Leading Edge Partnership". This now includes Westlands as well as the four original partners (Abbey Hill - lead school, Bishopsgarth Secondary School & Computing College, Hardwick Primary and Harrow Gate Primary Schools, Stockton). The partnership concentrated on addressing the dip in performance experienced when pupils transfer from primary to secondary by putting into practice an innovative new scheme under which pupils in all four schools within the partnership move up a year in June instead of September, with results after the first year of operation showing significant improvement in the pupils' performance in Y7.
